Scott brings more than 25 years of experience as an investor, operator, and advisor to high-growth start-ups. Prior to joining Sands Capital, Scott was a Partner and Head of Business Development and Federal Initiatives at New Enterprise Associates, a technology-focused venture capital firm.
Over the course of his career, Scott was also the COO of Automated Insights, Co-Founder and General Partner of Valhalla Partners, a partner at FBR Technology Venture Partners, a consultant at Dean & Company, and a corporate attorney at Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P. Scott is also a former Director of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association and co-founder of the Young Mid-Atlantic Venture Association, serving as its first President and Chairman.
In 2018, Scott was profiled in a Washington Business Journal cover story which described him as “a walking Rolodex of some of the nation’s most high-powered business leaders.” Scott was also named to Washingtonian Magazine’s list of “Tech Titans” in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Duke University, where he graduated magna cum laude, and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School, where he graduated cum laude.
